Despite the name, however, Junior Suites are more similar to a balcony stateroom than a suite. They don’t come with many of the benefits you’ll find in Grand Suites and above. All Royal Genies will help you plan your cruise in advance, snagging your preferred reservations at restaurants and activities, and adjusting these plans in real time as your cruise unfolds and things come up. However, the best Star-class amenity is the Royal Genie, a personal butler who will go above and beyond to enhance your vacation at sea.

Grand Suite, Ocean View/Panoramic Suite & Owner's Suite
The virtual balcony is a high-definition screen built into one end of the windowless room that projects a real-time view of the ocean outside. It's designed to make you think you're actually in a balcony cabin with a view, and it is quite realistic-looking. The backstory here is that Royal Caribbean ships are designed to appeal to a wide demographic, including travelers with varying budgets. Simply browse through stateroom options and select the amount you’re willing to pay the upgrade. In the Ultimate Family Suite, you don’t even have to leave your stateroom to enjoy the thrills. Plus there’s plenty of perks for parents too, like a private balcony jacuzzi.
The Ultimate Family Suite Packs in Amazing Family-Fun Features
Additionally, these passengers get reserved seating in select entertainment venues and access to the private suite lounge. However, the top suites on its vessels offer an experience keeping with what you'll find on some of the world's top luxury ships. Suite guests on Quantum and Oasis Class cruise ships have access to Coastal Kitchen, Royal Caribbean’s suites-only restaurant. Coastal Kitchen is complimentary for suite guests and offers a more intimate dining experience than venues like the Main Dining Room or Windjammer.

If you do not see one, ask the concierge if any tours will be available on your sailing. Suite Guests won’t have to worry about finding a seat for shows onboard, as they will find a reserved seating area in the main theater, Studio B, AquaTheater, and Two70 for main entertainment lineups. Here’s everything you need to know about the perks you can receive with a Royal Caribbean suite.
ROYAL SUITE CLASS
As a suite guest on Royal Caribbean, you can enjoy complimentary room service along with the option to dine in your suite using the Main Dining Room menu. Furthermore, Barefoot Beach provides additional perks such as rentable cabanas (extra charges apply), and a complimentary lunch featuring more refined options compared to other buffets on the island. You’ll receive boarding passes, luggage tags, and baggage claim checks while on the ship, with your luggage sent straight from your suite to the airport and your flight. On select itineraries, Royal Caribbean offers a luggage valet service, allowing you to skip airport check-in.
RESTAURANTS & BARS
More luxurious (i.e., more expensive) suites offer a wider array of perks, including concierge services, priority spa bookings, welcome snacks and drinks and free 24-hour room service. The typical Royal Caribbean balcony cabin has a contemporary look, with clean lines and relatively minimalist furniture. It will typically offer twin beds that can be converted into a royal king bed, a desk and a sofa that often pulls out into an additional bed. It typically measures around 180 square feet, not including the balcony area. The Ultimate Family Suite is part of the Star tier, the highest in our Royal Suite Class collection.
Spacious Ocean View
Royal Caribbean has a few "family suites" that are designed to handle 5-6 guests, and often have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. If you plan ahead, you can sometimes book one of these suites at a reasonable price. Suites will always cost more, but many families find these types of suites affordable, especially when you factor in the extra service you get with them. The primary benefits of Sky Class suites are complimentary internet access, suite lounge access, and Coastal Kitchen meals. Each Royal Genie is shared by just 3 or 4 suites and is a cross between the suite concierge, butler, and magic maker. They can attend to your every need onboard and reserve seats at any show or restaurant without the need to plan ahead.
Accessible staterooms OUR GUESTS ARE ALWAYS OUR PRIORITY
If you're willing to pay whatever it costs for a luxury experience and VIP treatment on a tricked-out megaship with all the restaurants and onboard attractions, it's definitely worth it. You might find you're willing to splurge for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, like a honeymoon, but not for an ordinary vacation. Perhaps you're willing to pay for a lower-tier suite with some but not all the perks, or are willing to patiently scour all the sailings to find a Star-class suite with a lower-than-average fare. You might need that genie to help you figure out which suites come with which perks on which ships. Here, I'll take you through the ins and outs of Royal Caribbean's Royal Suite class for the next time you want to make your cruise vacation extra special. On Royal Caribbean's Oasis, Quantum, and Icon class cruise ships, the suite program is enhanced, and referred to as the Royal Suite Class.
Spa Suite, Royal Suite, Junior Suite, Grand, AquaTheater, Owner's Suite… the list of the Royal Caribbean suites available these days goes on and on. With more than 20 types of luxury cabins on offer, we can see how making the right Royal Caribbean suite choice can be bewildering. Royal Caribbean is known for having some of the cruise world's most spectacular suites, including (on some ships) suites that sprawl over two decks. Royal Caribbean has built ocean-view cabins at the front of some ships that incorporate the angled space in the front part of the superstructure. As a result, they have sloping windows, and a bit more floor space around these windows (see the image below).
The best part was the pools, they had salt water, which was a great touch, not too salty like the ocean but better than chemicals. Not a deep ocean as this is the bay side, calm water for families with little kids. The room was great with great views and lots of space for 2 couples, close to Isla Mujeres where there is always plenty to do, rent a golf cart and explore the island for hours and hours. The Royal Cancun is close to Pok Ta Pok Golf Course, downtown and really close to the newish Mercado if you want to make some of your own meals. The new hotels program aims to give cruisers an easy way to lock in a pre- or post-cruise stay.
Nearly all suites offer access to a concierge lounge and the services of the concierge host. Cabin suites usually consist of more than one room in your cabin and have the most space of any cabin. Having your own balcony means you have a special spot on the ship just for you to enjoy, that provides views all around the ship, as well as that terrific ocean breeze. Many cruise fans swear by a balcony for the added space, private area and ambiance that only a balcony room can provide. Oceanview cabins at the front are a hidden gem because of how much more space they provide. Some are categorized as family cabins, and have bunk beds for the kids, along with separate bedrooms.
The kids' bedroom is decorated in lime green, with three pull out beds and a small sofa bed. Note the master bedroom is open plan and looks out over the main living room; privacy is provided by thick curtains. Please be aware that suites of the same name/category do vary by ship in size, layout, decor and even amenities. For example, the 287-square-foot Royal Caribbean Junior Suite on Allure of the Seas sleeps up to five guests, while the same suite on Navigator of the Seas sleeps only four passengers and is a bit smaller.
In fact, my initial article pitches involved titles such as “Why I didn’t think my suite was worth the cost” and “10 reasons I’ll probably never book a suite again”. Wonder of the Seas even has its own Suite Neighborhood with a large private Sun Deck with a plunge pool, private bar, and comfy loungers. The Suite Concierge can help you check-in to your flight and print documents if you do not have an internet package. They are also available to escort you off the ship on disembarkation day. The “stepping stone” into the world of Royal Caribbean suites is with a Junior Suite. To help close the gap between kid-approved action and family accommodations, the Surfside neighborhood will debut on Icon of the Seas.

If you can stretch your vacation budget far enough to book a suite, it can be well worth the cost, particularly if you’re celebrating a special occasion. Let’s just say my initial judgment was quickly deemed incorrect, and by the first few hours onboard, I finally understood why booking suites is so popular. Ever since my first international trip in 2014, I’ve always been a budget traveler.
Examine the ship’s layout to see where your cabin is in relation to key areas like the lido deck, dining rooms, and entertainment venues. Consider potential noise from above or below your cabin, especially if it’s immediately above or below a dance floor, crew area, or near the pool. Perhaps more so than the accommodation grade, the cabin location can significantly impact your cruise experience. Seeing sunlight can also calm your nerves, and the ocean view helps ease motion sickness.
